Title: Mercedes Benz 300 Slr 1955
Name: Alberto Daniel Russo
Country: Argentina
Software: 3ds max, VRay

One car I've been working on my spare time, with the idea of modelling all the mechanical parts as well, but I've decided to call it finished for now. I'm waiting for a scale model to continue but it won't be done until next year at least, so I wanted to show these renders, with the interior finished and opening "gullwing" doors.

Not sure about the texture on the tires, But I like the car itself and the dramatic camera angle you chose! :buttrock:

Great job!

Nice attention to details, I like the accuracy of your model.
The render is excellent, but some little touches of specular in the chromes are missing in the mercedes emblem and in the thingy in the middle of the front rim (don't know the english word).

Hope to see the interior one day ;-)

Keep it up

PS: nice to see a REAL hires render!

Nice, I like it, nice ride too... wished there were more vehicles like that, instead of the crappy designs that roam the streets these days...

Thanks a lot. For reference and blueprints, I've got a lot from here:
http://www.carshowcase.org/Mercedes-Benz%20300SLR.htm
also searching around the web. Also was planning to get the die cast model but I couldn't find it on time.

AdR.

"teh fury" asked me to share the scene setup, so I thought it'll be a better idea to do post it here instead of a PM, just in case someone else is interested on it.

The light source and reflections comes from a white plane above with a gradient ramp (set to radial) on the opacity and an output map on the diffuse slot. There are also two spotlights to fill up dark spots.
The ground is just a standard material with a vraymap applied to the reflection slot.
The car paint is a blend material between a vraymtl for the base color and a shellac for the two reflective coats of paint, and a falloff map to mix them.

Hope that helps!
