View Full Version : Music Is the soul on any film, right?
Andy Colmay 12-08-2005, 08:54 PM Hello My name Is Diego, I am not new around here but i never posted anything. well... i 've been posting for a while but my post never reached light though...
Hope this do... let me introduce myself....
I am a composer, conductor, for orchestral and symphonic pieces.
I do work with all related to cg wrk too. From 3d art animation, Illustration etc...
But I love Movies, And I always thought one thing bring them alive is their SONDTRACK.
Try imagine the hero arising up in the mountains after a tremendous militar battle with no sound... It just don`t work :)
Add any picture in your mind wich made a mark in your emotions, and the music is always present, your soul feels it and your heart too...
So i want it to hear your opinions about it. Of course, I coul be wrong... And it would be a nice debate to do about Film Scoring.
And just about i am here i will be HONORED if you can check my web page with my music works i have done trough out many years in the Film Industry-

Did you compose the music to 'Little Big Adventure'? It's just I noticed that 'confrontation' on your site was a track from the second game (long time since I played it, but I'm almost 100% sure). I thought that Philippe Vachey composed both games scores. :curious:
Edit: he did http://www.twinadv.net/creators/lba2credits.php
and strangely the track you call 'Confrontation' is in fact available to download here on this LBA fansite and it's called 'Honey Bee' (track 2)

:hmm:  :wise:

Well, I better explain this JMcWilliams because i guess you are confused. I must say I met Didier Chanfray back in 1980, i was Working as a graphic designer in a company were I met Him... We develop a work relationship and he was always aware I was an Indie Composer back Then. Of course this was in france since i was making an internship between the college i Attended back in Paraguay (my native country). I knew he was an excellent artist back then and he was working for the upcomming project LBA 1, he modelled all the characters and was inside the company.
I really needed to get my foot in the door so I Beg him to introduce me to the crew so i Can show off my material. He show no problems but told me they already have hired a Music Composer: Phil, the one you have found in the final credits... I didn`t met the whole crew but i did met Frédéric Taquet, Merlin Pardot they were in charge of the video sequences and also worked together with Didier on order to get the feeling and accurate mood for the music essemble. Well, the thing is that i met Phil, (and i was a big fan of his music from older midi games, i tought and still cosiderate him a genius in the field.) He was such a wonderfull human being, and so given to others... and newbies like me. And he gave me THE HONOR to work out a piece with him ... It is good to know i was very young at that time and he noted my devotion and desperation, but i burst to tears (of emotion) when he show me the works and gave me that msterfull class of scoring games. So we worked, and I co worked with him in a low profile contributing sort of way, in the Honeybee track. I was given full permission since i did the whole string back up melody of it, to use in my personal reel or portfolio. The years went by And i decided to put it up in my new site, honoring that "Confrotation" I had in my teen age years, where one of the most heart welming personal experiences happened to me with one friend and beloved person, the first real human in the industry who gave his heart for a messy young boy who dreamed with the magic of his music. Phil Vachey
So if there is any problem with that I understand it... there are a lot of "ghost" in the industry who get a chance to do something but fade away in the final cut, since it is only small cooperative contribution.
Also forgive my english i tried to explain it the best i can... I can do it in french or Spanish id you want :)
well take care and if u need something else ... just ask
what about the other music... did it fit your likes?
take care
Bye

Well I am glad i was capable of explaining this and getting through this odd situation :) , I totally understand your doubts and your position. it might be confusing for some people finding something the may have heard before under other "enviorment".
Yeap, the score of the LBA games are by far, :applause:the most powerfull and emotional ones i have heard in many years. But of course... again i am lettin myself be carried away by my emotions and memories. Every time I listen the track... I just (well get emotional). Ok, sorry about this, I am being very wimpy, i have to show a tough look now. ;) ha ha.
Ok, Thanks very much for listening and all . TAKE care. And if something else arise. Just pm me
Regards

Don't worry about that... one of the best attributes for a composer is emotion, as you know.
Good luck in whatever you do! :)
