Gunilla 01-04-2006, 09:09 AM But in the same time... maybe I will try to restart with ZB... when I saw your actual project... that really give me the envy to go for more... but I must find a good subject than yours... without precise goal... I'm sure that another time I can't progress with this software.
Must think then...
I'm looking forward to see this - and yes, a project like mine is very good to learn new software - many small details to make in different way and not knowing how it will end :)
You think of something, I'm sure.
The last brushtest is also really nice, brings out the light in her well I think.

Hello, Hi, good morning or good night for you all my friends...
I'm late for all today... late for the good morning, but also late in my job, late in my personal works, late in this drawing, late to learn ZB... late in my thoughts, and especially late for the spamming cession...
To anwser you about this project... it's not a real secret... I will post a resume to explain all very soon... but for that too... I'm very late...
...the White Rabbit Mode is mine actually. But it's my total fault... I'm trying to do more than I can do  where is the super french nut ? :banghead: hahahaha

Hey Laurent,
in this case I just slow down a little, sort things out, set some priorities...and take a long walk in the cold january weather and think of ...nothing;) . Next day I'm there again with double speed... May be this works for you too...:)

Don't worry, dear! The Super french nut is there , just resting a bit. So, as Sabie says, slow down, take one thing at the time and remeber - you have the rest of your life to spam on.

How ? I really don't know exactly... I work on a big paper size in photoshop (3000x4500) with a black backround...
I don't know the name of this brush... "effet pointillisme" in french... maybe "Pointillist effect" ? with 50% opacity...
I try to work not too much zoomed... to have a global vision, and to not focus too much to the odd details...
Close-up of detail at 100%

Morning Beckie... in action... yes... but this one is not finish...
I've tryed to work on an another thing yesterday...
as I'm actually preparing the new 3d project... I'm also working on a little website dedicated to this project... and I started a picture for the index page of it.
I prepare the pic and I post the beginning in few minutes...
Lemog
01-06-2006, 02:32 PM
Well... this new 3d project is a little bit ambitious... I hope not too much... we will see...
I've planed to do the reconstruction in 3d of the Paris Word's Fair of 1900...
It's a time I like a lot... and this year is a real cross of centuries, and for many reasons... architectures, technologies, arts, etc... it was one of the most fabulous exhibition...
Lot of originality and much different things to discover... that start with nation's pavilions along the Seine river... a reconstitution of a Medieval Paris... a swiss village... and many many other incredible things...
In first, I've planed to realize only few pavilions for still images... but with the time... I thought why not to do more, maybe all or a large parts of them... and maybe a movie...
...but the movie, it's an another story... much work to do before.
And that already start with a big documentation's searching work... I hope to really start with a first pavillion at the end of january... I hope because remain me much search to do...
To store properly all these documentation, I actually realize a little website, soon online... next week perhaps...
And for this one, I need a picture for the first page... something as the good reflect of this Paris World's Fair...
I have a reference, a picture of the french issue of this time, L'ILLUSTRATION, representing the statue at the top of the monumental gate of the exhibition... this statue of woman symbolize the town of paris, realized by M. Moreau-Vauthier, in the style of 1900. I will add certainly a view of the monumental entrance behind...
I hope you like this project... very NUT in fact...
Here's the started drawing with the reference :

Of course you will be able to follow this... but I'm ok with, difficult to follow that in the anat thread... but I will certainly find some times to do some 2d pieces... It's really pleasant to take times here... with you all. A real pleasure for all days.
But now, I cross my finger to have the energy for this project... it's not for few months but certainly for 2 years... at least, if I want to realize the movie.
I must continue during the realization time to find documentations, and take contacts with passionated or specialists. Remain today too many things unknown. I will start with the most easy for me, the alignment of the Nation's Pavilion along the Seine river...
...in order :
italian - turkish - united states - austria - bosnia herzegovia - hungary - great britain - belgium - norway - germany - spain - monaco - sweden - greece - serbia...
I must choose one of these pavilions, to start, the one with the most documentation, to validate the ability of realization, the technic, the style, etc...
...well, more details soon... and for the next years :scream: hahahaha
Expo universelle ? ça me rappelle qqchose...
La tour eiffel tout ça...
The Eiffel Tower ? yes, of course, this tower will be here too... but it was not build for this exhibition but for the previous one, in 1889... I'm a specialist now  hahaha

It's kind of you to said that, and that make me very happy... as you can imagine, I'm very exiting too... but at least as I'm very afraid too... I'm afraid to can't do this project... It's very big... will see then...
But it's terrible to see you manage to do two websites before I got mine done ... :banghead: :banghead:
Don't worry girl... you know, mines are really simple... no real graphic interface, just something practicle to manage and update...
Good luck for the first steps with the project... a movie, huh? That is really interesting, you got me all curious now. :)
The movie will be the final finality :wise: ... don't know for the moment... If it's possible, I don't want to do a simple documentary... but something with a real story... maybe just a very simple story, but that can be add the little "more" than a documentary as many others...
Thanks for wishes honey

And of course I'm really excited about that ... ok , seeing the level of details you got on a library , what it woul be with an entire city ? and not a tiny one ... THE BIG one.

I will post certainly on an other forum, a little french one dedicated to the World's Fair... for less artistics or 3d aspects, more for documentations questions or problems or to meet specialists... (for the moment, we're only 5 members... and only one spammer :scream: hahahaha)
Thanks for you interest Beckie

About the level of detail... I must find an intermediate level... if not... it's sure that I can't finish this kind of project... I must work very properly... and don't to try to do "all" details as usually... all is not visible... and that will be not visible will be not builded, promised :bounce:
It's the reason why I must validate that kind of limits with the first Pavilions... to know exactly where I go...

Spirit Dreamer -> I understand well your thoughts Glenn about Word's Fair... in fact, my views are very far of displaying something as a zoo or that kind of things.
My goal is more that to celebrate the human ability in arts, architecture, creativity, technics but also in peace... something which can meet the power of the world's people together in the same place...
...of course... much aspects in these exhibitions seem too much to ethnic's entertainement, and it's very disturbing for me too... I prefer to keep the good sides, and the magical way to discover something incredible, modern and inventive, something at the cross of 2 centuries...
Hope my vison is good for you Glenn and to doesn't disappointe you with the future realizations (If I can start what I've planed...). And thanks for you support about this project. :wip:

Hello Glenn,
You're totally right to point the negative... I had a good exemple of that 2 days ago...
I'm working actually on the documentation, and for that, I read much books or issues of this time... and precisely the evening of the day when you speak about that, I was scanning some old illustrations of pavilions... and as always, I try to copy the comment with. But for this series, I couldn't... couldn't wrote a text very very colonialist... I know it's now only the history, but in this case, not possible for me. But fortunetely, in "all" these many 1900' books I have, only these issues of "le petit journal" are worse like that. Certainly a touch much oriented journalist, but this old issue always try to show "sensational"... that can explain a little the terms... the most sad it's that at any period, we always can find people who appreciate that, very sad...
But finally, I have lot of chance, you're here Glenn... and if you see I follow a bad way... you will be able to prevent me
so just say a big feel-better-soon *hug* to you...
Thanks girl... but you know, that can be dangerous... to hug with viruses :scream: hahaha
Just can't get enough of the Lemogness. Rock on my friend!:D

Of course Beckie... it's a mix of technics... overpainting to respect proportions... but unfortunetely the ref was not big as I want for my picture work in 4000x3100...:scream: and finally, it was not my goal to have much details... then, painted in Photoshop, not so much precisely, really quickly, knowing the next operation... and after back to Painter with the Dry Palette knife brush to smooth the photshop hard touches of brush.
Then another time in Photoshop to apply a filter "accentuation" on a another layer, and set the opacity to give just the little "touch" of brushes "as hand painted" that I want...
I don't know if that give a real "as hand painted", but it's near to what I like  hahaha
Last operation to adjust the tones... with a colored layer (color density +)... and that's all...

Exactly ~ and why I mentioned 'all the other international nuts' ~ it's definitely the size of the community here and the quality of work that makes things so special...too many people to thank and name. This forum wouldn't be anything without all of the people who come here.

Good morning everyone, good morning Laurent!
Ah, the German Pavilon especially for me! So nice:love: , thank you...
The entrance is quite strange, but the lighthouse looks familiar to me...it's a replica of the German lighthouse "roter Sand" (red sand) in the North Sea, about 30 m high, not longer at work but still existing under monumental protection:wise: - and the best of all: you can stay there alone over night, playing the lighthouse keeper...:scream:

ah yes, I see, another amazing picture...thanks!:)
The towns nearest to the lighthouse are Bremerhaven and Bremen, so it's not totally wrong...but the official (and international) name for it is "Roter Sand" because they really built it on this certain red sand, a quite difficult underground...the first attempt for this failed, but finally they made it and it was the first offshore building of the world:) - so a good choice to show it on the World's Fairy...
Can't belive that you still find time to paint, but I'm glad to see that pic...it comes along very nice:thumbsup: , I can't see that you are really missing your painter's palette knife;) !

Well... very simply... I start with little size of airbrush at 100% to put basics tones... and after, larger one at 50%, and I draw over my first pass but very slightly, helped by a low pressure on the stylet... nothing more complicated...
...but unfortunetely, only less of 10 mn by day actually  in super snail mode...

Good morning, and really nice update!
I like what you're doing with the subtle colortones in her skin, with some areas more cold than others - perhaps you could push that even further?
And beautiful pictures of the german pavilion! I see Flossies lighthouse is already in it :scream:

I think you're right dear... I must certainly be patient and wait she will finish... and at this step I will be able to work more on these tones...
But I must be faster to finish this one... It appear that I have a lot my head in the Big Project now :banghead: hahaha...
Maybe next week... I can start the 3d WIP here ? one week before the real beginning... :scream: (one of my personal deadline... hahahaha)

Good morning Laurent!
I see you've found some other references...
I add yesterday on my website an another drawing of the Roter Sand LichtHaus... I must acknowledge to really appreciate its look... :)
Also adding a color drawing of the German Imperial Pavilion... on the Nations Street (along the Seine)... very beautiful as you can see... inspired by Nuremberg and Eidelberg houses...
The four sides of the pavilion represent the four elements (water, ground, air, fire)...
I prefer the lighthouse (of course:D ), the Imperial Pavilion is, hmm, perhaps a little too...pretentious for me:curious: (http://forums.cgsociety.org/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#)? Don't know, but the original buildings of this period are really beautiful and there are still some to visit in Nürnberg and Heidelberg, the old part of these cities are always worth to take a look at...
You are starting 3d next week? I'm full of suspense to see some polys...:bounce: !!
Have a nice day:wavey: (http://forums.cgsociety.org/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=1&forumid=0#)

Morning Sabie...
Of course... I prefer the lighthouse too... so pretty not ? Germany was in this expo the country the most represented as we can imagine while seeing this very big pavilion...
...we can find this one on the Nations Street, the other with lighthouse is the house of commercial marine, exists other pavilion in the Vincennes annexes... and many large exhibitions of art, furniture... much things to show the power of the empire.
I've already start to search some good references about this 2 towns... certainly helpful for me...
Next week... I just thinks to start the wip... wip page... modeling, don't think... The first pavilion is not choose for the moment... must choose something really well documented, and for the first, between with medium difficulties...
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c54/lemog/15palais_fr_1600.jpg
and for the pleasure...
the last lighthouse sketch added yesterday (as you can see... I'm trying to work each day :argh: )

I continue to work on documentation until next monday, and I will certainly take the decision...
Thanks for your interest about my project...
Something a little strange, actually, I'm trying to take much internet contacts, with other passionated people by these world's fair, in france and all the world... to share informations and so... but unfortunetely, very few answers... we're again only 5 members of the WorldFair Forum... with only living member :scream:

One of the possible first pavilions of my project maybe can be the Swedish one... I found many new informations, and photos... (it miss again much... but... that's already sounds good...)
About informations, now I know that the wood structure was built by the Eckmann mechanical joinery of Stockhom...
Maybe that can be a good way to find more informations...

Beautiful work, Lolo, as always impressive...especially given your time constraints...perhaps your really have a mini~me at work?
<serious mode> I think the thing that would really help this is a darker background...this might help to obscure her outline a bit and help her to feel more dimensional...really nice work on the feet, it seems like everyone has become foot experts latel...

Boa ? thanks... easy finally... the same in french then...
Of course, the background will be dark... but for the moment, I prefer to keep this one, tones near of the skin... just to see the difference...
It's also the reason why the edge is really visible.
About the foot... I'm the first astonished... it appear very odd closely... but like that, that seem good... then, something that works easily and we doesn't know why... :scream: hahaha

I'm not to sure.... the mustard tone you got now, gives a quite interesting, warm mood - like a day in the desert or a foaming bath. Another tone or darker color would certainly make her standing out more, but this remminds me (without obvious reasons) of Klimt
