was playing around with an old sketch and after hours of strokes I kinda liked it

unfortunately I used one color and I would love to give it some colors and a decent lightning.

have tried some layer blending in PS but Im not happy with the result

so, dose anyone know any tips or tricks I could use for this "christmas card" hehe...

and any comments are welcome thanks...

Hey mr Daw, nice image!

Well, you can always rename the background layer and change to a multiply layer blend. After that you put a layer above the one with the draw and make your colors on it.

Iīll post an image soon so you can see a quick result about it. Hope it helped...

EDIT:

Here is a quick doodle on it (whatever doodle means...):

I spent a little more time with the layer blending/opacity and I think It can work...
think itīs the color shades that is the biggest problem doh...

I'm really drawn to the little bits of "tentacles" that haven't been fully covered with color, for some reason. It seems like they keep a little bit of that luminescence from the original that made it so interesting. Maybe not for all tentacles, but just a few here and there could add some interest.

JesseBlunt - I totally agree...

the colors on the new version will not be so hard and I will try to get a more
frosty feel to it - maybe add some icicles here and there...

DoInferno-- how did you do that!!

Some photoshop trick? Or something really simple that I don't realize?

djtrousdale, itīs very simple. Just like explained in the text before the image. Put the original image layer in multiply mode, create another layer under the original and color this one.

This trick is specially usefull to color linedraws, cause only whatīs black wonīt be covered with the color.

Thatīs it!
