Hi. Iīm starting at this moment a new picture. I have the concept idea, and iīm going to post the WIP in here. I would really love public participation on this thread. Comments always help me in the process.

The original idea is about a person making an intervention on the public space, a grafitti maybe, when the police appears.

Thatīs it. Image soon!

This Post will have always the newest picture:

Still having troubles with the lightning... Feeling kinda lost and nervous. I donīt know wether to keep trying on this one, or go back to my backup way before and try to do it different...

A bit of a character design. I learned a lot from this Spectacular Chalenge, and decided to make a lot of preparatory drawings, instead of making a first drawn and start painting.

More character design. I like the one with the sunglasses:

A little color scheme. Very hard to paint a night scene, thatīs for sure... Funny tough...

I really like that. I like the out-of-focusness of the police but you can still tell what it is. Nice job.

Ps: did you use a tablet to paint it?

Hi Korg. Thanks for the comment.

Yes i use a tablet, iīll never work on the mouse again, it has "destroyed" my wrist and the result is never good enouhg. In the case i donīt have a tablet i prefer to go non-digital painting.

This is only a fast painting, so i can have a better idea of what i will be drawing. I just started to make a new drawn and i think this is the one i will use.

Hope you check back for the updates!

Looks great :) Though I'd say you should keep the lights of the policecar straight.

I totally agree with you, Aranel! I just donīt know yet wich way to go...

Letīs see what happens here. Anyway, i expect to maintain a little of this scatered light ray tough... Together with the direct straight lights.

personally I much more prefer the way the police car lights looked back when you were 'defining the mood'.

Iīm starting to agree with you Pixelcritter... The fact is those car lights are going to be a hell of a trouble to me! Here is the image so far:

At this moment i was trying to achieve a sense that a lot of blinding light were coming from behind, and i have no idea how to do that... Only now, writing this post i found a reference pic to ilustrate to you guys what i want to do. Iīll study this pic, because i was trying to achieve an effect that were only in my mind...

If someone can give me a tip or a tutorial link to make my life easier i would thank a lot!

I know this has nothing to do with this thread, except the fact that this is a concept design iīm making for another project, and itīs keeping me away from the "You better run" for a while. Thought you might like to take a look:

I would suggest some blue lights on the police car - that is more recognizable than just red (at least where I live)...so you can tell them apart from regular emergency vehicles.

Also you might put some flare in the roof lights so they appear to be illuminated brightly (perhaps a burst of white in the centers and brighter color?)

Hey Carlos, sorry I didn't see this image earlier. I guess I don't get around this forum as much as I used to. Anyway ... I saw your image and noticed a problem from your earlier WIP.

The squad car is either too small or the character is too big. Using the perspective guidelines that are evident in your image I approximated the size of your character if he was standing right next to the squad car.

(see attachment)

Also, if you want to create that blinding light idea that is in the Titan A.E. poster, you need to think about what objects are going to be in front of the light and where their shadows are going to be cast. The Titan poster isn't really a great example, but they at least got the deep shadows at the center of the figures and a nice rim light around their edges.

In your image, the light will be blocked by the character so you should see a shadow on the wall and/or stretched out on the sidewalk where he's standing. Don't just put a radial effect over the top of the image and expect it to look like light. Light will pour out from it's origin like water falling from a shower head. Think about where the light is going to hit as it falls towards the viewer and what parts are going to stay 'dry' from the light being deflected around an object (like water cascading over an umbrella ... the top wet - underneath dry).

Wow Guys, thanks for the comments! And sorry for taking so long to answer...

Iīm really thinking iīll have go back a lot of steps to improve the drawing. Unfortunatelly i have a hard time to stop a painting i already started, but iīll have to stop this one an re-start it. Gotta have a commitiment with the final result, right?

Iīm now working on this other ilustration from a brazilian forum contest, and itīs taking me all the time i would have to finish this one. After finishing that iīll come back to this one here and fix it. Hope you come back to see how it will get.

Here is a link to the wip of the other image iīm working. Unfortunatelly for those of you that donīt speak portuguese, all the text are in our native language, but you will understand the images. The contest theme is folklore, and my image is about the Curupira, an entity that protects the animals in the forest. Here is the link to Carlos Rannaīs Curupira (http://www.cgart.com.br/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1240)

Thanks again, and iīll see you soon!
