Hey everybody

http://jake.sourceblog.net/Temp/Jump2b.jpg

Yesterday I had this sudden animation itch and decided I wanted to do something simple, and with some help of Mr Williams' "The animator's survival kit" & Keith Lango's pose to pose tutorial I came up with this.
Funnily enough I read both the book and the tutorial more than once but I never followed this pose to pose method. o_0 Good thing I've seen the light now. It's a far cry from my other (rather awful) experiments imo.

C&C is greatly appreciated, as I still have a long way to go.

good start , um form what i can see you need some more energy in the jump an more follow through at the end , he his COG is too far back at the end , need to contiue foward an disapate the energy. also the arms are lookin add on the first part of the jump.

Hey Jake, yeah Books are good when you actually practice what you read. I think your heading the right direction but the clip still needs some work. Some suggestion, offset the arms and feet from each other so that everything doesnt hit at the same frame. I agree with Eric the center of gravity at the end needs to be further forward. Watch the arc when the character puts his hands up to jump. I feel the hips could follow the action when the character is coming down. Keep at it.

Yes, good start. I agree with everything said above. The arms at the end are the first thing that jumped out at me, as they're really stiff and don't really have any broken joints/overlap, and to me feel like they would be pulled down by gravity/force a lot more. The spine could be pushed more to be more fluid IMO, and the curve in the neck makes the head snap back into position at the very end, so add follow through in the head too. Keep posting updates!

Thanks for the comments!

You're definately right about the arms and his COG. The head snapping and such definately needs fixing, and so do his legs, there isn't too much force in them when he pushes off! I'll update ASAP! thx :]
