Ok It's my first post here, in this section. ALso first time i try to achieve a low ploy character. I'll need help and comment and i do this to enhance my texturing and mapping skills. I hope u will like him. here he is.

I'have finished to model the gun and refine some part of the body. I'm ready to unwrap the body but i'm not sure how to do it. I'll try to detach some part of the body, textured them and collapse after, tell me if im wrong.

Here the uv render with normal map. I use 3dsmax 8 new pelt tool and its do the job :)

I think the model's looking very good so far, particularly the face, which has some very strong looking character. But you are using maybe 55% of your uv area at best. I'd really think about some serious reworking of your uv layout, because at the moment it's pretty wasteful.

Otherwise looking pretty nice so far.

Its cause i have use the pack uv tool, but as u tell me i think i'll do it by my self :D

Here is an update with the texture unwrap, i have took more place on the uv board. And i have put the texture in 1024 is it too much for game or its possible ?

1024x1024 is a good resolution for your character... Are you planning to normal map him? :)

I would like to make normal map for him, but I have never do that before. Do u know if i exporte my model in zbrush, if Zbrush will keep my uv as they are ? or I'll have to do a guv tile mapping.

I hope i'll have time to do NM, but it also depend on the time i have to finished this project. I have to give it to the teach, thursday next week. :cry:

If someone have a nice tutorial on normal map for game Zbrush to 3ds max pls let me know ! :bounce:

I typically UV after ZBrush, but YES, Zbrush will maintain your UV's.

Go to http://www.3d-palace.com for video tutorials on 3ds max and ZBrush normal mapping. Also http://www.poopinmymouth.com And of course the always popular http://trepaning.com in the Doom video section.

hmmm nice model but i think u should take a look on his hands they seem flat to me otherwise its a nice model. keep it up.

you are using world space normal map, that are only for still objects, you should use tangent space instead.

dreamsunlimited: ur right the hand are a little bit flat, maybe the normal map will help for that ?

phoenix_ACE: the normal map that u seen on the unwrap view is just for ref in my Uv render.

bricevdm: i try to use tangent normal map instead of world, but in tangent mode i can't see the normal on my render or its does do the same effect as world and for the moment its will be for still image, but it good to know as i'm a newbi with the normal map concept.

I don't think i'll have time to normal map my character before thusday cause i have an exam . And first of all, this work have been made for one of my illstration cours, where i had to do a concept of a ¨visit card¨. I had decided to make a CD cover for my future porfolio.In this concept, there is also a little card that will come with the CD. I will post it when it will be finished. I hope u like the cover .

I will try to find some time will christmas break and before the end of the 3dtotal lowpoly competition to do normal map on this guys.

There is one thing that i'm sure is that i hate unwrap and texture in the process of game design. Maybe its cause i need more practice...
