MikeG 02-27-2002, 09:22 PM Hello,
I am just starting to learn Maya and I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to render out your scene as Wireframe on Shaded?
Thanks:)

i don't know if there is an actual way to do it.. but what i do is
render the scene
then
on the hardware render buffer render the scene on wireframe...
( smooth shaded or not smoothed)
( depends on what looks best for your scene)
and then put them togueder on after FX or any compositing program
hope that helps

Thanks for the help Alx. :)
I had a feeling that is proberly the only way to do it. That or work in another 3D package.
Thanks again.

Theres a wireframe shader on highend 3d I believe.
But the playblast is probably easier than reapplying a shader to large scenes.
so problem mike...
let me know how it looks.
ill like to see a render... and one last thing ( just in case) you can allways change the colors of the lines in the Display/preferences/color menu
and change the color of the unused objets..( i think that might help to make it look more pleasant..
sincerely

It's been a LONG time since this thread was started, but I got this link from a student with the same question, the answer however is very simple in case anyone seeks for the answer:
- Combine the entire object or split it up in a few objects.
- Apply Automatic Mapping on the objects, this way, every face has a proportional amount of pixels.
- Edit the UVMap that Maya generates in Photoshop and use this as the texture, now the edges will all be colored, such as this:
