I am having a problem... I will try to explain briefly.

I am trying to animated Treads (such as tank). I have a circle path with Tread01 on as path constraint. I have a Dummy01 that I wish to control the percent with by wiring the parameters of the percent and the y rotation of the Dummy01. So far so good.

I link the path to the dummy01. now as I move the dummy the tread01 follows it. So if I move and rotate at same time.... the treads work. Great.... UNTIL.... I rotate the dummy in the Z axis. IE turning the vehicle. Now the percent motion is based on part of the Y rotation and X rotation of the dummy. If dummy01 is at 90 deg. it is total at Y rotation.

I have tried to use the following to no avail. Any help would be appreciated:

Wire Parameters:
Dummy01's Y rotation wired to Tread01 Percent... as

-(X_Position)/(circumference value) + (necessary offset)

I have also tried this:

-(coordsys local X_Position)/(circumference value) + (necessary offset)

Thanks. I can attach a Max 5 file if it would help.

if you control the z rotation of your modell with a second dummy which every thing is linked to you'll get the cordinate system of the dummy.

this case the y rotation will remain y and not partly x and y..

I hope I made it clear

Yeah, I got that to work... I probably didn't go far enough... Its been frustrating... I actually do have a second Dummy02 that controls the rotation. The path and the Dummy01 are linked to it. I wired the rotation of Dummy01 to X_Position of Dummy02... when I rotate it stops working and switches to Y direction

I have attached a very simple file I threw together. take a look if you wish.

Move the big dummy in the local x axis... works fine. then rotate it in the Z 90 degrees... try moving it again in local X... nothing. move in Y.... works wrong.

using the percent for the wheels rotation is much easier to set up..
