View Full Version : WWII,depth charges!
Bruno Avellar 12-04-2005, 04:27 PM Hi, I'm here to show my most recent work, it is still WIP, so critiques are very welcome.
It is a german WWII u-boat under depth-charge attack, made in 3dsmax7. It is a 16s video, in 800x600.
Here is a low-res pic, and I'll post the video later, after hosting it somewhere.
ps : please, if you know somewhere good to host a 6MB video, let me kbow, and I'm going to host it there.
thanks

cool. I used some simple effects to simulate them: -Omni lights blinking when the DC explode
-Particle systems
-A sphere that grows, simulating the blast radius, and then fades, with a explosion texture.
-A mesh bomb to destroy the DC object, scattering small pieces of the DC.
I still need a host to the animation. It is currently in the 5th version, now with motion blur, camera shake, and multiple DC backgropund explosions.

http://video.google.com is excellent, but it takes a while for them to verify it...about a day or so, so uploads arent immediate. once they are up though, its great! putfile is also a possibility.
isnt there a very similar tutorial in the 3dsmax6/7/8 reference? im almost sure there is! maybe you can get some tips from there?

My first try to upload the animation (11MB) was useless. It took almost two hours to get to 7MB, and then, the upload failed. (600k connection).

yes, there is a similar tutorial, but my scene was made in a diferent way, and I didn't use any of the models used in the tutorial; anyway, they are, to a certain point, similar.

mmm... ok, the sound isnt very good yet, and I thnik I overdid the sub shake (but in reality it shakes). About the camera, I shaked it to improve the feeling, but if you have a suggestion I'd be glad to implement it.
