A new picture of my mad constructor character on top of his
Body enlargement robot.
I am interrested in any opinion.

Ha, ha....The dice add a nice touch. Are they air fresheners by any chance?
I can't wait to see these characters come to life. Will you be posting an animation soon? The suspense is killing me.

great pic! the fuzzy dice are a great touch!!
only thing i personnally would change is perhaps a tweak in teh lighting to bring the robot/character out a bit from the background. maybe just making the background a bit darker would do it, but right now it doesn't stand out as much as i would like... but really thats just a minor quibble, as its a great image :beer:

I actually like the first version better, before you changed the lighting. It looks more like a painting. The new one looks more like computer output. Its very subtle but that's just the impression I get. Great job on everything by the way.

Rather than tweaking the lighting, maybe try adding a little depth of field to separate the character from the background.

Your work is phenominal, you have inspired a lot of what I do. Not only can you model and texture with ninja skill, you can animate with it too..

lovely design. Allways loved your way of texturing, modeling
and lighting things. Yet, I´d guess this one may benefit from
a more dramatic lighting of the backround. Not neccessarily
completly darker or out of focus, but with the same colored
and contrasty light you put into the characters.
Something like a strong semisharp shadow cast from the
bot onto the backround, stretched and distorted across
the backround. Allmost as if the shadow had a life of his own:-)
Or to keep it simpler, fading off light with distance to camera.
As if he came out of the dark. Blue, soggy darkness.

I really have to work on the Background more.
Anyway the current back is a replacement for the reactor
room setting I am planning to create for this scene, but this will take a while.

really impressive! This guy reminds me of the evil character from Cubix (an animated cartoon that didn't last very long), only a LOT more detailed.

damn, that almost looks like an idea I did a few years back..but hell, after Megaman I guess its all Hemogonous.

I think this is some great art work. Alot of thought and detail has been put into it. I appreciate the work you've done. So don't get me wrong, but I'm curious as to why it looks flat? It looks more like an illustration than a 3d render. That may have been your intent, and if so, more power to you because you did a fine job at it.
However, I feel so much more realism could be brought to it if it looked more 3d. The texture work is obviously there. Therefor, I feel the flatness is due to lighting. Possibly some bump mapping issues as well?
At any rate, good job.
Also, I've seen the animations on your web page. A+ work man. I really dig the animations there. :thumbsup:

Sinpl amazing, theres nothing I can say. Everything fits very well. The lighting is great, its sorta a twist from the normal mad sci, I like it!

I made a screenshot of the simple shaded version because
the pure wire is simply a bit too dense to see anything in a
Mahlon: In fact I didnt use that much handpainted textures.
Most shaders uses procedural textures conbined with some handpainted base textures like scratches or some special color/bump maps for the face and the kneecaps.

Rouge: Its true ,I am not satisfied with the lighting jet. Maybe I will try a lightdome or something to fake gi a bit...

In reference to the comments about how the figure should stand out more from the background, i disagree, as the figure is not so much in a background, but rather in an environment, the figure should interact with the environment, be a part of it, not look like it is pasted on, as the lighting in the second image gives the impression of. however, i do agree that the first image is a little too uniform. perhaps if you had just certain areas of the background darker (in areas where on the 2d plane of the image the background is close to light areas of the figure, for instance) it would serve to unify the figure and background as well as not end up with a bit of a mushy image. fantastic work, though, love the texturing.
I love the steam punk look of this, you've really done an awesome job! The walking animation is looking very cool, I love how the guy sways back and forth and it looks like its really not a very relaxing ride. I'm sure you're aware of this, but his hands are clipping his knees in a major way. I can't wait to see the final :)

and i like your texturing style as well. the anim looks cool too, but if i have to pinpoint a thing that would be the robots arms, the way they move they seem they're not as heavy as they look like. but its just my opinion. all in all hats off :buttrock:
