View Full Version : Shake not recognizing external hard drive

Hi, when I import footage from an external drive, I can locate the file and Shake imports it, but then it turns up as red, indicating it's a missing file or broken link. When I copy the same footage to my internal drive, it loads fine. As a compromise, I've just been copying whatever needs to be loaded to the internal drive, processing there, then copying back over to its original location. This is pretty tedious, though. It also breaks, to some extent, the ability to send footage right from Final Cut 5 to Shake. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to fix it?

Try making sure the path to the files doesn't have any unusual characters. Try eliminating spaces, etc, from the path. For example if it looks like /Volumes/Firewire #1/My Files/2048x1556/ try renaming the firewire drive to Firewire_1, and the folder to My_Files. I'm willing to bet you have a path shake is getting confused on somewhere..
