View Full Version : clipping planes in orthogonals?

Hey, I have a stupid question. (Yay!) I just got 7.0 installed, and it seems with my front and side views, that there is a clipping plane, set very near the origin, maybe a few units off to the side, but still very close. It seems like no matter how far I pan my side and front cameras back, that my NURBS objects I made are always getting cut off at this same plane. So now, I can see inside my spheres, like they've had their tops cut off and I can't select any verts/hulls that are unseen, even though it should be selecting them in the side viewport.

Anyone know how to fix this? I thought it would have just been the clipping planes for the individual cameras, but that doesn't fix it at all. :(

It may not necessarily be the clipping plane that's interfering, the actual orthogonal cameras (top, front, side) may be inside the sphere. What I do to fix this is to open the Outliner (under Windows) and select all the cameras and unhide [shift-h] them. Then press F to in the perspective view to show all the cameras. Then move them out depending on which way they need to go. Afterwards you should check to see if the clipping plane needs to be adjusted by selecting CV's on the opposite side of the object. IE: Select CV's on the bottom half of the object to see if the Top view needs to have the plane extended.

If the far clipping plane needs to be extended, just select the appropriate camera and go into the Attributes to edit them.
