View Full Version : Unwrapping vid
urgaffel 11-22-2002, 05:26 PM I just did a quck vid of unwrapping a friends toilet model... Might be of interest to some of you :) It's about 28Mb using the techsmith codec. I think... Anyway:

(Just realized it's closer to 30Mb, but what the hell... It's educational! )

Techsmith codec, www.techsmith.com
And...
For some reason the movie decided it shouldn't play past 12.01, so I compressed it again and now it's 44.2Mb. If I had a decent editing program and if the techsmith codec wasn't being a pain in the ass, I'd halve the framerate and try to compress it some more.
Anyway, same url, just a lot more to dl heh...
Quick explanation: I use enter on the numerical pad to get the selection planar mapped. The mapping is not as precise as it could be, it's a bit of a rush job... Some distortion can be avoided by splitting the uvs up. On the other hand, if the toilet seat will be down, no one will notice. I guess it's up to what the final product will be used for that decides :)
Enjoy. It will be up in 20 minutes

1 question... How did you do that in 3ds max you have only 2 widly windows:
1) viewport
2) UVW edit
I am using 3ds max 5...

Yeah it looks like he only grabbed a portion of the screen but you can easily capture full screen 1600 with camtasia. It works like a dream.
