Hello everyone, it would be very nice if anyone of you would help me out with a problem of mine.

But before i ask i should highlight that this is my first time touching a 3D program and that i am aware that this might sound rather ludicrous to some of you. But trust me when i say i've searched hard to find an answer, so now i turn to you.

Progam: 3Ds max 8
Problem: As it is my first time using 3Ds max 8 i imidietly ran through most of the reference material as well as outside documentation on basics. After this i thought i would start with the tutorials provided by autodesk with the progam. The tutorial is about creating a chess set, starting with a pawn. For this a image of pawns in profile has been provided and i've used it as background (alt+B) and started (as the tutorial instructed off course) to draw the outline in 2D. All steps went flawless untill i came to the modifiers part to round of the edges. As per instruction i choose the Fillet/Chamfer from the modifiers list and marked the vectors to be used. It all results in me just dragging the vector point around the screen, but the tutorial tells me to mark them and then press the vector, hold and drag for the effect.

I am completly dumbfounded as to why this happens, i have done everything by the letter and tried it 7 times, non included are the attempts by me to figure it out. I've searched this entire forum and others that seem reliable. I've searched through every manual that came with the program too see if that part of the tutorial was faulty, nothing indicates that i'm wrong in doing what i'm doing. Obviously though it's something...

All help would be greatly appreciated

you're confusing the fillet/chamfer modifier with the fillet tool.To round out the interpolation of the spline.select a vertex hit the Fillet button and dial the spinner.
