I get this error message in the Render log, and the rendering fails to even start:

MFnMesh get mesh info failed for "nurbsToSubdShape3": (kFailure): Object does not exist
Error generating models: (kFailure): Unexpected Internal Failure

I can still see and manipulate and hardware-render that object when I open the scene file, anybody know what's going on? It's a Subd object imported from another file, it renders fine in that other file.

try selecting the object, going into the duplicate menu(ya know, by clicking the little square next to duplicate) and click on instancing(for geometry type) and world(to group under) in the options. it should rename the copy and try that out.

b/c i was having trouble with .obj models and thats what i had to do before i could surface them or render it.

Thanks for replying!
Hm... so that creates an instance right? I'll try it. Pity this concerns so many objects in my scene. After the instancing, did you do anything else, like deleting the original or something?

Both scenes render ok when separate, but get screwed up right after I import one to the other. Tomorrow I'll try importing the other way, now I have to go home.
