Little_Devil 11-22-2002, 08:35 AM My first finished pic posting....
*flame me*
*burn me*
*tell me that i suck*
It's a semifuturistic cell like we'll hve in 1 or 2 years.
I tried to achieve a advertisng style with this *oaah*
cool gimmick ... wanna have ....
This pic was produced for a portfolio for the entry into
a german art univeristy (Univerität der Künste Berlin).
So be hard and cruel in critics.... but I don't think I've to
remind you - this is CG-Channel :D
-ehh and don't blame me for radartefacts on the floor, I'm
poor, have got only 750 Mhz and it were yet 39h for final-
Happy rendering,
Ferdinand

Very nice looking model but I'm not sure I like the curvature of the video screen. I think the current trend is to go flat-screen even in small devices such as this. I don't think the rendering artifacts detract too much from the image so don't worry about that. Keep up the good work!

Ah that's a wonderful image :beer:
Great work, nice clean modelling and real nice choice of colour!
How about a render showing more of the LCD panel?
My one crit involves the wire/cable to the earpiece. Does it have a wire core? If so, it might be a bit less flexible than the current bends and kinks suggest....then again I've seen cables on minidisc players as flexible as that....guess it's just personal preference.

I think that's Radiosity artifacts. They are there, but they are not that bad.
The image is great. looks like a photo for the most part. :)

What a great picture. My only gripe is that I can't make out anything on the screen! Any way you can post a picture taken from a diff angle so that we can see more of the face of the phone?
Neat concept for a future phone. . .now I want one!

i wouldnt mind one
the curve on the screen is fine, just fix up the artifacts and render some more shots!

Ok here's a older version with a screen with more glow and lumiance.

The prob is that LCD's have worse contrast the lower the view angle is you watch them, so I decided to make the screen darker
More renderings in the final quality are difficult, becuase HDRI for this pic takes on my pocketcaclulator something about 40h :annoyed: .
@say-g :
of course it plays mp3's, you can also watch lowres XXX pics and movies on it :D lol ...
@koniu
No I'm a still a hobbyist, I'm 21 years old, just finished army :beer: and I'm no facing to study at The Univerity of arts in Berlin
@nightwing :
yeah the cable, I had spend really hours in thinking about how flexible headphone cables are, but came to the conclusion that modern hedaphone cables are more flexible tahn you think. (tested 3 cables)
Happy rendering,

Hi, nice product, and indeed those flexible screens aren't really mainstream yet (oled's they're called I think?) better make a flat screen and add a curved piece of plexiglass on top to make sure it follows the form.
Something I miss is a seam somewhere along the middle of the product, I assume the shell consists of 2 parts screwed or clicked together? There should be a very visible seam somewhere to show that (it also adds a LOT of realism to the picture).

Looks pretty good so don't beat yourself up about it. Most universities look for drive and ambition as well as talent when looking at portfolios.
Good luck and I hope you get into the University of Art Berlin.
