View Full Version : Missing window...
petetp 12-01-2005, 05:26 PM The render progress dialog window is somehow mysteriously missing. Any time I render now, that little progress bar window is gone?
Anyone have any ideas on how to get it back???
Thanks,
- Pete

This method is a bit awkward, but it has helped me a lot of times:
Render out an image which takes a little while to render and make sure you uncheck "Rendered Frame Window" in the render settings dialog.
After pressing the render button, do the following:
Press ALT + Space
The system menu of the render progress dialog should appear.
Take note of the position of this system menu. When it appears at the right side of your screen, the render progress dialog will be on that side as well.
Press M to enter move mode.
Now you can use the arrow keys to nudge the window in all directions. Once you have pressed one of the arrow keys once, you can also use the mouse to move it. When you've moved it into place, press enter or hit the left mousebutton.
voila!

In case this doesn't work you can either delete your 3dsmax.ini (after backup of course) or edit the position of the render window in the 3dsmax.ini, search for [RenderProgressDialogPosition]

Hey Martijn... It WORKED! GREAT!
Your right it was a little awkward, but it defiantly did the trick! I don't know what caused this little disappearing act to happen in the first place but your solution did work!
Thank you both so much for the suggestions! >;)

It usually happens when either you've had a larger screen resolution or more than one screen, or the ini file becomes corrupted.
