Hi All,

I've got a problem thats just driving me nuts.
5 minutes worth of work is costing me hours!

I have an object I'm modeling that is symmetrical vertically, so logically I'm trying to take advantage of max's new symmetry modifier... a great addition in my opinion... if only it worked right.

However, as I'm moving up and down the modifier stack with symmetry in it, Max randomly crashes.

Anyone else getting this problem?
Anyone know if theres a solution or some kind of patch?

Thanks,

I have had similar problems with the symmetry modifier in the past, though I was able to figure out the exact circumstanses that it occured under. When I had an editable poly, applied the symmetry modifier, collapsed to poly and re-applied the modifier, MAX crashed. In this case, the workaround I came up with is instead of converting to poly, convert to mesh first, then poly.

Otherwise I haven't had a single problem with the modifier.

i've been using the symmetry tool with over 60 incremeted max files. No problems here, am working in editable poly all the time.

I do believe this is the problem I'm having... however, I cant use that workaround.

My Editible poly has many different vertex weight, and edge crease secifications, and collapsing the poly to mesh and back again loses them all.

Anyone know of a way to collapse the mesh without loosing the custom weight/crease specs?
