while maya batch rendering is in-progress for 1 frame,
I am pressing <show batch render window> and openning the preivous iff file
but I dont see rendering steps

(mentalray rendering)

----------------
what is wrong with me ?

alright.I can see the final result.
but, how about shoing rendering progress steps in imf_disp ?

any experiencing with this ?

mayabatch.exe testscene.mb|imf_disp

?

how can I achive this ?

I know it is possible with renderman standalone...

but how about maya's integrated mentalray piping with imf_disp ?

batchrender -imgpipe 1 scene.mb | imf_disp - ?

or what ?...

I don't know whether you ever tried to do this with previous versions of Maya, but you used to be able to:

1. Open imf_disp
2. Start batch rendering
3. Drag the first frame of the animation (before it's finished rendering, so it's like 128 bytes) onto the imf_disp window

And it would display the rendering progress for the whole batch render, reconnecting to every subsequent frame etc. However, it doesn't work anymore in Maya 7. The only explanation I have seen was on the Mental Ray mailing list. Barnaby Robson said:

"The version that comes *inside* maya 7 has the annoying problem
that the telnet sockets are disabled !!

It only works with 3.4 stand alone on Windows ... joy."

The 'thread' was basically talking about imf_disp not working for Maya 7.

interesting...

is it a bug ? or disabled ability for commercial anxieties ?

it also works with standalone 3.4.5

but seems buggy on maya7

I'm pretty sure it's just a bug.

:hmm:
