Here is my latest photoshop landscape painting.
I haven't used any reference, just wanted to build
one up from scratch first.
C&C very welcomed

I really like your use of atmospheric perspective, fading off the stuff in the far distances. One must wonder what life lurks in that alien world.
Or at least I do.
Anyway, I would suggest altering the portal/entrance to that cave so it's not exact horizontal and vertical lines; it flattens the image. :(

This is looking really good so far. Personally I think you could put a bit more contrast into the picture, plus some more highlighting to make it really stand out, because some parts appear to me as flat (such as the gorge (?) under the bridge leading to the opening).
Very well done nonetheless :)

Thanks to you two for the advice....you were totally right about the chasm, it needed to be darkened. After doing that I started seeing more areas that needed some contrast and adjustment, so here it is after about 45 more mintes. (Im doing this painting at my day job between assignment, so bear with me ! )
Im thinking about adding some strange critters or something, but I really want to focus on the landscape right now. Painting environments is new for me, so I;m making it 1st priority.

Here's the latest image from my work on this painting. I got s lot of good advice
from the people at conceptart.org, as well as from here. I'm gaining confidence
in how this image is coming along, thanks again to everyone who took the time
to say something! Keep watching!

I'm too new to offer any useful advice but wanted to give you a quick thumbs up.
Like AliceMarie said, I really think the perspective on the three lintels [sp?] above the entrance really need to conform to perspective. At the moment they are very orthagonal.
Keep going

Another days work. I'm not sure if I completely like how this color
has been applies, so i've kept the layers and im going to sleep on it
to see if I keep the tone. I want it to be brownish, but maybe it just needs

Latest version. Im liking what the highlights have done, but for some reason the right side of
the image now seems more solid than the left. Maybe I didnt put enough color into
that left mountain, as well as the bridge, which is sticking out to me.

This is just a 'noobpinion' so take it for what it's worth but I get the sense that you aren't 100% sure where you want to go with the color -is that correct? I know we are working on color at school now and it is a real bear (at least for me). If this is the case for you maybe take a time out and do some quick color studies like user HamesterFly did here http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=284179 until you find something that seems about right.
As for the rest I guess the right seems more solid because of the highlights which make the edges seem sharper which seems a little unbalanced to me because the bulk of the rock on the left -which is closer- seems smoother.

Sorry I've been away for a while on this piece, but its been for a good reason!
As i was wasting time at work painting this thing between projects,
one of my producers noticed it and requested that I make him one
for an upcoming commercial we were making, for...The Mattress King!
I dont pick the clients, just work for em http://conceptart.org/forums/images/ca_smilies/normal/anj_happy.gif
So anyway I had about 3 days to knock this thing out. I don't think it's too bad for the timeframe...but my artistic nagging inner voice is bitching about around 100 things wrong with the picture. I don't plan on working on it anymore, but i'd love to hear some crits so the next attempt is better.
P.S. I'll try to get some stills of the final composites for all of you fine people to see.
