I have a tons of lines animated in space. These lines should be dotted. Right now I got the effect with cylinders and a custom shader. The problem is, that the lines get bigger the closer to camera they get. And because they are dotted the lines further in the back appear as complete lines and not dotted anymore.
I basicly want, that all lines have the same thickness if you look at the rendered image. And they should all have the same frequency for the dots.
Does anybody have an idea. Is there a cartoon shader that could help with this?
And is it possible to render curves in mental ray? So that I don't get the scale effect that appears when I use cylinders?

Thank you

Steffen

You want to vector render .swf splines. Once you have these you just take them into any graphic design package (i use Freehand but Illustrator would do), then you can make the splines (curves) into dotted lines (or lots of other options). I think you should be able to batch process in Freehand (haven't used it for a few versions). Have fun...

hmm... this seems to be an idea. I will give it a try.

Thank you.
