Hey hey, just wanted to share my latest wip and try to get some Comments and critiques. its an animated holiday party invite project im doing for the company i work for. My company's logo has to do with a redsquare so thats how this character came to be. I still got a alot of work to go in a short amount of time. So any replys are appreciated.

Thanks Zach

This is Randolph the Red Square Reindeer, who happens to be the distant cousin of rudolph. In fact he got picked on more because not only did his nose glow it was square. Although He never tasted the fame Rudolph did. :)

Looks good. I'm not crazy about the cube nose though. I don't know why but my first impression was that it looks a bit like that squirrel from Ice Age.

wow, nice ! very cute, its lovely. the shaders rock, i'd be very interested to hear about the settings u used for this velvety touch.

i would have only one crit, its about the glow on the nose. the area where its intersecting with the head makes it a bit "artificial", dunno how to say.

about the body, u said it needs a lot of work, but seriously its way more than a good start. proportions, overall look and especially the hands looks great.

keep us updated !

Hi
I like it a lot. Nice shaders and good modeling. I´m not sure about the yaw dropping it looks to much like a cube.
Cheers Rickard

Hehe, really cute. Nice shaders and modeling!
I think the antlers would fit better into the design if they were simplified a bit. Would serve better the cartoonish style, in my opinion.

Hey guys thanks for the replys, The cube nose does look odd but im gonna keep it cause its the part i built the character around to tie back to my company. Ill keep you updated.

Thanks

Zach

Distal- to get the velvety feel all i did was mess around with some fine noise (dents) in the bump with a fresnel in the luminance channel (usually a lighter color to black). then just add the color you want it to be in the color channel. Its really messing around with it till it feels right. Hope that helps.

Aye, pretty sweet. I love the velvety shader on the antlers.

He's not alcoholic is he? Is it for Red Square Vodka (the 6th most successful vodka brand!)? If that's the case then the cube nose is great :) .

thought I'd share my progress today, I added a tail and started the scarf. Im about to start rigging. I would like to ask your opinion which is easier to use, mocca by following slouchcorps tutorial or CDIK tools. I havent really used either but need to figure it out in the next two days. any suggestions would be very very helpful.

thanks again guys,

Zach

Allright I had my go at riggin with mocca 2 and it actually turned out to be a pretty stable rig. I followed Mike Bachelor's excellent mocca 2 tutorial. My only problem area seems to be the inner elbow areas. They seem to fold on themselves. Does Anyone have any suggestions on a way to solve this. I have the main bone function set at 1/r^8 and i tried playing with the strength and length of the forearm bone were the problem occurs. I tried reflowing the mesh but to no avail. Can someone explain how to do helper bones or any other suggestions that might help me out here. well any comments or critiques would be very helpful.
