Holy Cow! Wow Zhu.

I really like the sword girl, and the anime doll girl, and the last one too. I can't believe it, you're the bomb. Geez man, what masterful strokes.

Cool!
your latest crop is really inspiring!
In particular, the 4th Painter girl on white bg, with the fluent lines and vibrant colour patches.
Its the look I'm after.
I'm in a delema, have to make a series of "serious" "perfect analogy"
(measurable) faces and features for a book, but I don't wan't to sacrifice freedom and fluent stroke... a tough call - for me at least...

Keep pumping out more goodies!!

WOW! Nice stuff. I recently started back using painter for the new paintings in my thread also.
I am curious, what is a good site for references. Google is alright but not the best at times.

And i like that ref u got from that movie. I think it is called the professional.
I also like the woman sitting at the table and the face portrait of the woman with the blonde and redish hair.

zhuzhu
02-27-2007, 10:12 AM
pushav: thanks a lot~! i don't know what kind of refs did you want, if you don't mind chinese, there is a good website for high-res images, just click and save.

CyborgJA

You got an ability to change palette- mood that is INCREDIBLE.
Can't stop to look at your works. I find something new each time.

evanfotis
03-02-2007, 08:24 AM
Are you going to work on these more to clean them up?
Please no "cleaning up" or "finishing"!:)
These sketches here, are far more creative, suggestive and alive than any "finished, clean" photoreal illustration...
There is a strong wave and tendency towards "finishing and cleaning" both in this site and in general as well. I will not analyse the reasons now.
So, Zhu, please keep up with these free and "unfinished" masterpieces.

chrislee8
03-02-2007, 03:10 PM
I agree with you.

But once in a while, you have your most interesting piece finished is not a bad idea too.

also people will learn from that as well.

my 2cents.

btw, Zhuzhu, please keep them coming. Even when you are teaching in college and/or you working on your new book.

your work is cocaine to me. very addictive.

michael-olszak
03-02-2007, 04:02 PM
I have to agree with both gentleman above. The unfinished look is amazing and shows how easy it is for you to create these Masterpieces. I also am kind of getting addicted to your art :) (finally a positive addiction). I have downloaded all of the work in this thread (hope you don't mind) and am using it as ref and backgrounds (using Wallmaster to change my wallpaper every 10 minutes). so i see your work all day long at work and at home. I really can't wait until your book comes out man. even in chinese i'll buy it :)

have you considered selling some of these as prints?
would be cool.

pushav
03-02-2007, 10:34 PM

evanfotis:thank you, i will keep it rough.

chrislee8:thanks a lot, i never stop drawing and posting.

michael-olszak: big thanks~! it is ok that you donload my works as refs, it should be my pleasure right. selling printings? how? i never do this before.

So, Zhu, please keep up with these free and "unfinished" masterpieces.

They don't have to be photoreal or neo classical polished. Just more so than they are now. The last two are great. Just not wild about her thights, tapered a tad bit too severe. Otherwise its pretty sweet.

michael-olszak
03-04-2007, 10:25 AM
Big is good! :). I actually never did any prints for sale but basically you should look for a printing company in your area and check the prices. there are websites where you can put your work for sale just google for it. keywords: "selling art prints" etz. check it out. i know i woul buy some if you would be selling. Keep the nice ladies commin man :)

snowkiwi
03-04-2007, 04:08 PM
Hahahaha. Your right. Make your own name.

snowkiwi
03-04-2007, 06:38 PM
Zhu, Michael's right. You should think about making them bigger for sale. (If that is what he meant by bigger). I also agree with evanfotis, many of these paintings are quite complete, and don't need additional cleaning. But Womball is correct too, some of them need just a little bit more finishing, so they can sell. Also evonfotis has another point, keep sketching, even if it is not complete. It's great to keep the creative energy going.

saiko:thanks, i think the painter's default brushes is enough.

thanks zhuzhu!!

i agree that the default brush set of painter is really great, but wondering if you have a fevourite set that you can share.

one brush that i was looking for is tha hard edged pressure sensitive brush (like open-canvas) that you use to create many of your awesome work.

like this one:
http://i13.tinypic.com/4gh8sx4.jpg

could you tell how to get this kind of brush in painter?

saiko:i also want make that brush in Painter, but can not.you may try some Pen brushes in Painter, like "Fine Point", set 50% brush opacity.

You have some really wicked compositions Zhu.

snowkiwi
06-20-2007, 03:30 AM
I think DDS is right. Try Zbrush. You can also sketch in 2D, I think.

You can do some wicked things with it. I couldn't find the free download, but here is the page to buy it.

http://www.pixologic.com/store/

I want to get into it too, but I don't have the money. I got Mudbox instead. I think it's more simple and clean. I think Zbrush is more your style. It seems to have a sort of dirty and dark taste that you like, and many creative things you can do with it. I heard it's complex, but in the end if you learn it, you can do a lot more with it.

Here's their gallery:
http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/gallery/

Goodluck.

Hey there Zhu. I just saw your anatomy photos with Rebecca's and your thread, from Samanthie's gallery. You are the man Zhu. I think all you need to do now is make a real masterpiece. Like for Michaelangelo, it was the David and the Sistine Chapel. Leonardo Da Vinci, the Mona Lisa. I think all you have to do now is start trying to make a signature piece. You, nor many artists out there may never hit Michaelangelo status, but we can at least have a piece of it. You have a lot of gifts Zhu. I think you should work with it and try to make a really good piece. Maybe spend a couple of days, or even a month on one.

Zhu, may I have permission to use your photo in my art? It's a great picture.
I'll make you one of the kings in my story. I love women, but I still do admire and look up to the masculine look of men.
The photograph was only given permission for the anatomy thread, so I have to ask again to be sure.
