Title: Tower And Boardwalk
Name: Matthew Bell
Country: United States
Software: LightWave 3D, Photoshop

This is the second in a series of images I am creating that deal with the notion of childhood memories. In particular I wish to deal with the way your childhood memories over time fade out, especially around the edges, that is how the little details surrounding your memories tend to fade out quicker than the subject that was prominent in your thoughts. This was modeled and rendered in Lightwave with post work in Photoshop

First, I think I should warn you about other's first impressions. As I was opening this thread, my room-mate was walking past and stole a glance. He's really into Freudian psychoanalysis and let's just say you don't want to hear what he thought the towers represent and sort of look like.http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/aktion/action-smiley-014.gif

Anyways phallic or not, I think it is great! The surreal landscape of childhood buildingblock towers is really nice in its tipsy-turvy warped way. I can imagine these forts flowing and wavying in a mild breeze. The colored bricks segmented everything really emphasizes the depth.

Although, the whiteness is a bit too bland for me. If this was the landscape of memory, other associated objects and events would saturate and bleed into one blurry past. By focussing on just these towers and border/roadways, it seems almost too sterile and clean to be a child's perspective of the past. Perhaps the towers topple and decay as they approach the edge of fading away, or maybe have overlaying imagery of other nostalgic landmarks to break up all the negative space.

But for what it is, superb! The composition and camera angle is perfect, the rendering is flawless and the concept is interesting. The only problem is in personal taste of the audience...
