This is my first attempt to paint in Photoshop. Please tell me whether you liked it and how I could improve on the image.

The mouth and chin seem skewed, the eyes are not the right shape for the angle of the face. The shading is nice and I like the overall felling of the bad man. Use photo reference for the face and be sure to study how the face changes when posed at different angles. Keep working on it you'll get it right.
in addition to what euphrosyne said:
- like the shading and texture of his hooded top
- there's only global illumination on the face, i.e. reflected light. Is there a direct light source? Do the features of his face cast shadows? Establish a light source for this.
- the background (brick wall) suggests a perspective which differs much from the perspective for the character. Try to get the two more aligned in on cohesive perspective.

Euphrosyne and Mr. Mu, thanks for the comments and advice. I have never studied art at school or college, however I do like digital painting and am just getting into it. I guess I'll have to learn a lot of the anatomy and angles of drawing.

There is a lot to learn. You can get a start by looking at Rebbeka Kimmels threads on the top of this forum. For a beginner you are doing very well and I encourage you to keep going and to study and practice as much as you can.

I know I'm not as experienced as theses guys, but I think darken the face shadows to give him more deapth and more "badlyness." I realy like the backround and jacket. If your going for realism you might want to try defining the chin. I hope this helped. Good luck!

Thanks again for the comments, that link on drawing the head was good. i did learn something out of it. I will try to improve on this and keep you guys updated.
