acacia 11-28-2005, 02:20 PM I'm working on an animation. I've only worked on the the body movements and will be adding the head movement and facial once the body is complete. I know this still needs a lot of work and I now look to you guys...cgTalk forum surfers... to give me advice, crtitques and overall opinions to improve this.

I'm just wondering of anyone has had problems downloading the file.
Also if you do get a chance to see it, please critique. This animation needs some snazzing up. The voice is so monotone that it could use a visual pick me up. I plan on having him blow up the earth as the last shot which, I hope, will add some spice to it but... the animation itself could use more. I am just not sure what.

Hey it worked for me. . .
On first glance I would have to say that the scene is not reading very well overall. If I hadnt heard the sound I would have had no idea that the guy was supposed to be talking. I think he is moving around a bit too much right now. All the fussing with the knobs and levers is distracting. I would focus on the dialouge more and figure out what poses he needs to hit in order to tell the story in this scene. Im not saying to throw it away completly or anything, just make the actions you animate mean something. I think the are too many extra movements. I think once you block the facial animation in it will help alot also.

Ok, I made some changes to the body movement and the link is the same as above. I just replaced the file. I playbasted from a different angle this time. I haven't worked on the camera movements yet but keep in mind that a decent part of the animation will probably be shot from the front/side angle. Much of the body movement (AKA hands) will most likely be hidden. I created the movement so that it looked like he was working at the control panel instead of just standing there. Plus I may add a close up or two of his hands moving so I wanted to have the animation already set before adding the camera. I'll most likely zoom in on the hand when he pushes that big red button at the end. Also when critiqing, please keep in mind that I have not yet added the head and facial.
If you have any ideas, critiques, etc. to improve the animation from a movement, timing or overall asthetic perspective, please please please add your comments to this post. Thanks!!
