franzboas,

I think that what you need to do is to practice drawing on a regular, daily basis, and not worrying about whether a select few drawings are good or not at this point. There is no shortcut in learning how to draw, and the best way to get there fast is by consistent practice.

I really recommend checking out and participating in the 15 Minute Sketchathon (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=295498), which is not only fun, but also a great chance to practice Gesture Drawings, which schools will really look for in a portfolio.

I have been recommending to others, and I will recommend to you to take the Reference images posted in the 15 MS and to do 3 different drawings from each ~ 2, 5, and 15 minute long drawings ~ time yourself, that's key! And start from scratch for each of the timed poses.

As you progress, post your work here! I think you will really see a lot of improvement as you do so. :)

Cheers,

~Rebeccak
