Material Patina Procedural Process/Texture/Lighting work by Tyrone Marshall
This was a result of an lengthy experiment to create an effect much like the kind we see with those gorgeous detailed Zbrush rendered models.
I am currently tweaking the process. The shader is for use in a project so I will see what I can do to release it in some way. There is no hand painting of any kind. The best use for this technique is that it establishes a good base coat (material) upon which more details such as stains, and discoloration can be added using Bodypaint 3D.
I would be interested in any comments as to how closely this resembles the "patina" effect.
