Ok, first I'd like to say hello, this is my first post on these forums.

(I'm really new to this modeling malarky, so sorry if I seem a little stupid on the subject)

So I have alot of models in .3DS format, and I'd like to use them in a map I'm making for Warcraft III, Warcraft III requires these files to be in .mdl or .mdx format to be used.

I have converted these files to .mdl format, however I know need to find out what the 'paths' are for these models, I don't know how to find out the models' paths. Someone said it has something to do with how the models were 'wrapped', I didn't 'wrap' them and I don't know how they were wrapped, so how can I find out the models' paths?

Thanks for all help in advance.

This may be stating the obvious, and that you already checked this, in that case.. sorry!

But, could it be path as in "the location on the disc where the models are stored"?

Like c:\MyGame\MyModels? (as an example)

I don't think it is c:\blah\blah, I need to find out what wrapping is, and how it is done so that I can find out the 'paths'

Do you mean paths to the objects inside the .mdl file? I don't know anything about WC3 but these may help:
