View Full Version : Dual socket dual-core m/b (amd)
Andyman 11-26-2005, 01:35 PM Within the next year, I am interested in getting a dual socket board that can sport dual-core AMD CPUs. My plan is to buy one dual-core CPU and use that until I either could afford or needed the second one.
I have looked around, but they don't seem to be easy to find. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

I would suggest the Tyan 2895
I'd get what Ed suggested, the Tyan 2895 (Thunder K8WE) is a great board... :)

It is without a doubt the best board out there.

try this one buy two dual core single processor motherboards and you with the processor taken in to the account you will still save money, plus it is a faster system.
but to answer to your request:
asus K8n-dl.
cheap and fast.
tyan are good for the long run but quite expensive.

One more thing... The performance has increased by about a factor of 4 over my old p4 3.2 with 1GB ram.... The Tyan system has 2 AMD 275s and got 2GB.... I noticed between VRay and MaxWell i have been getting about 3.5-3.9 times faster then my p4..... RealFlow is nice too now... Allot of things like calculating particles in Max didnt seem to increase in speed much... im thinking cause they are single thread based...
I hope that helps..

It does [help]. Thank ya very much guys. Yeah the Asus board is more affordable - more within my price range. I've always wanted a Tyan board though. I guess we'll have to see how much money I've got set aside by next month. Gotta put CPUs in the thing too, huh? $$$
You could shoot for the Tyan Tiger K8WE. It falls between the price of the Thunder K8WE and the Asus. And its feature set is pretty nice..
