View Full Version : Huge price difference between Lacie LCD (21") and Dell LCD (24")?

The lacie LCD is smaller yet $400 more expensive. Lacie's response time (20ms) is slower that the Dell's (apparently 12ms). So what is so superior about the Lacie display? Is it the colour accuracy? I know Lacie have an excellnt reputation but I am confused why they are charging so much for a smaller display?

I'd buy the Dell 24" when it goes on sale again for $750. Watch techbargains.com for coupon codes.

That would be the day :eek: I am in Europe and last week I got an e-mail from Dell saying that the 24" LCD is on sale. In Swiss money it comes to CHF 1700 which is $1300.
I wonder why they charge us so much in Europe? It's not as if it gets made in USA!

750.00 USD= 989.250 Switzerland Francs

1,700.00 Switzerland Francs = 1,288.86 USD :twisted:

Wow yeah, that's a rip off ... it'd probably be cheaper to know someone in the USA to buy it for you and ship it off to Switzerland, LOL

I could try phoning Dell and saying that I want it for $750-$800...otherwise I am buying something else :)

I wouldn't consider it a rip off, its still a great monitor. I have one btw. I paid around 1200 for it when it first came out. Worth every penny.

The Lacie has better colour accuracy. Its panel is near perfect.

got my Dell 24" for $950 Cdn with a coupon and free shipping. one word.. awesome!! it's twice as bright and better contrast than my samsung 213t (which I thought already was a good lcd). My suggestions is to find a deal with coupons as dell has all the time.

Ok as promised I phoned Dell Switzerland.

Currently price on the Swiss site for Dell 24" is CHF1678 --> $ 1269 USD

The guy on phone offers me discounted price of CHF1790-->$ 1354 USD :eek: hahahahahahahah

So I told the guy that his disscounted price was more than the actual price. Anyway in the end he said he would sell it to me for CHF 1500/ $1135 USD each if I buy 2 of them.

I told him that I would think about it and that if he had offered me close to US price I would have bought it in a heartbeat.
