Hi All,

I am an extreme newbie at Particles but not so much Maya. Here is what I am trying to accomplish: I want text to kind of evaporate into dust or some sort of particle sprite. Can anyone lead me in the right direction as far as how to accomplish this type of effect? My idea so far is to create text and covert it to particles, then add a dynamic force to create the desired motion. Am I on the right track?

Cheers,

t~d

I thought I remembered a Gnomon tutorial on doing this, and I found it. Well its not very detailed (as in step by step) but has enough info to develop an approach.

You have to creat an emiter from surface. add a field (uniform or air)
then you have to map the transparency of your text with an animated ramp (to make it disappear progressively) and it's the same for the particules. you map the "texture rate" (it's in the emiter attributes) with an animated ramp.
ask fore more details.
