im using windows2000 pro sp4 with an x2 4800+ sys. so far its working fine.
is it ok >>> or i should install the xp sp2??

No reason to upgrade to XP with SP2... keep in mind that W2k is slowing becoming more and more unsupported... so eventually, you may need to upgrade.
But for your computer setup, W2k should work fine =)

I would suggest upgrading to XP SP2, but if you can hold on for about a year, you can go directly to Vista.

I honestly prefer Windows XP over Windows 2000 quite a lot. When someone asks "why," I'm never able to respond properly, but the o/s feels a lot more responsive, and it has little features everywhere that 2000 lacks. I support a domain of 200 mixed 2000/XP machines, and I really can't stand the 2000 ones we still run .. there's just something about it. I dunno, if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask me
