View Full Version : Windows XP Pro 64 & Virus Scan Software
csutcliffe 11-25-2005, 05:36 PM Hello There,
Can anybody tell me about Anti-Virus software that works with windows xp pro 64 bit. I've just downloaded Norton Systemworks 2006 from Symantec's website which doesn't work)-: I'm hoping to get a refund as the website like most of the others I've visted don't make it clear whether or not it will work.
Any feedback would be appreciated!
Regards,

The corp. edition of symantec virus scan line supports 64bit.
Other then that, nothing much. Basically Microsoft is calling it in on XP 64 (only selling it OEM), and most of the software and hardware guys are too, really just doing a half ass job on the drivers and calling them beta to keep people happy.
Everyone is just getting ready for the release of Vista, including software companies so support for XP 64 really sucks, and probably always will since everyone will just go to Vista anyways in about a year.

NOD32 has 64 bit versions for Windows XP64 and Windows Server 2003.
See the link for more details, the announcement is around half way down the page.

I've only used the 32 bit version though.
