Hey all. This is my first time posting in CGtalk, so I hope i do not get destroyed here, but crits are welcome. I am a student at a college in FL studying Computer Animation. We just had a class for game characters, and this is my final project for the class. (One month class) It isn't due for another few days :p Please feel free to give comments, although i probably won't fool around with it much, becuase i am starting 2 new classes next week. But i would love to hear input. This is modeled after the reference Pic attached. It is a Poly character, consisting of 3900 Polys (Triangulated). I texured it in Photoshop...yes i am aware my Photoshop skills are not "1337" :) Comments are welcome. I will try to keep posting my work through out my courses at the school. Thanks.

it's a good start. I would guess you could cut the polly count to about half without losing much, but I can't tell without seeing some wires. In low poly game modeling the textures are the most important aspect in my opinion. Your textures look like they could use a lot of work to help define the musculature.

Yeah my Photoshop skills are lacking. And it probably could be cut down on poly count. Thanks. Here is a Pic of wire frame:

hmm the problem is if u try to do the balrog ... this thing is mostly smoke .....

id suggest sprites ? are they allowed or planned in the game ?

Cut down on the poly count around the hand areas. They look like too much detail was put in, but u arent close enough to the model to see it. The horns also look a little blocky, but other then that, its pretty good!

hey im not far from you daytona ! :) where are you taking classes how much etc is it a high school thing just curious im thinking of starting a small tutorial school here with some amazing 2d artist and animators but just for beginers

As for your model as far as the texture goes personaly id desaturarte the wings(ps go to edit >adjustments>.hue saturation the wings add alot of hue variation those horns arae going to demand a focus point of the character to so i agree with the above find a way to improve them If your focusing on kepping it low poly textures will make or break it

Here is a new pic, I am in lab right now, and I am just playing around with some textures. The school is called Fullsail www.fullsail.com The model is still abou 3900, but i added some details on some places and changed the textures around. I hope it is good, becuase it is due at the end of this lab! :)

Hey, X! Good to see you finally posted on CGTalk. The model looks good, but I think they're right, and you probably could reduce it a few polygons. Anyway, good luck with lab, and post your new projects when you get them too. I'll try to post some of my stuff later this month maybe. :buttrock:
