does anyone know if its posible to turn of viewible edges (poly and subds) when your moving vert ( component level )?

ie..i just want to see the verts when modeling

You can turn off wireframe on shaded in your preferences under display.

I've made a couple of shelf buttons for this, I use it all the time. These are the commands:

Wireframe Off -

displayPref -wsa "none";

...and on again -

displayPref -wsa "full";
