View Full Version : Sweep outer edge
Nomi-Graphics 11-23-2005, 05:24 AM I may be missing something really simple here, but I can't seem to figure it out.
Is there a way, to take a disk. Select the outer edge, and then do a sweep along that outer edge?
Right now I'm having to do it in two parts, with a disk and a circle spline, and I'm sure there is a better way to do it.

There's a slightly easier way: select the edges and then go to Structure>Edit Spline>Edge to Spline. Then use that spline as your rail path. You might have to change the interpolation first to smooth it out.

what exactly are you sweeping along this edge? it may be that all you need is to extrude the edges (just use the extrude command), you can control the direction of the extrude by holding down different keyboard modifiers (SHIFT/ALT/CTRL) whilst dragging out the extrude.

Thanks for the info.
What I was doing, was piping an edge of a disk for a pair of glasses frames.
I thought of extrude, but it wasn't giving me what I was looking for. I'll try what Adam suggested.
