View Full Version : Runtime Error
cshanks 11-22-2005, 09:45 PM I have a fairly high poly model - 600K polys+. I also have some NURBS geometry on the model, but not as nearly as much as poly's. I've been trying to render it out with MR, final gather, but keep getting runtime errors. I'll hide parts of my model to lower the poly count and it will render fine. Is this a memory error. I have 3.2 Gig chip with a gig of RAM. NVidia Quadra card - 750XGL I believe. Software render works fine. I have a feeling that it's I need to up the amount of RAM on my machine.

Many months ago when I was rendering a huge school building, I had to increase my RAM to 1.5 to 2.5 GB because I had the same problem with Mental Ray: runtime error.

Chances are pretty high that it is a memory issue. One thing you can do is open your task manager and switch to the Performance tab, then start your render...you will see how high your memory usage is on the bottom graph.
