Umm, move the object where you want it convert it to an Epoly, and select attach.

or apply a linked Xform to the vertices at the end of the rope (you can use soft selection) Then use the light fixture as the target for the liked Xform, then if you move the fixture, the end of the rope should follow...

I have the rope swinging, using Reactor, and the light is to be atached to the end.. so I need the light to inherit the motion of the very last face of the rope.
so that the light folows the rope. not the rope folowing the light.

just being able to link a dummy to one vert on a line would solve everything....

Ahh, Reactor.. might I suggest you're very free to mention such details from the beginning :)
There's a specific way to do that with Reactor. I.. damn.. I don't remember. It's a damn simple little thing, it's just not neccessairly all that logical first time around. Someone else remebers what to do?
I'll have a lookaround and see if I can find the thingie that needs to be checked. Anyways, attaching object to a tris and such, via dummies or not, won't work properly.
http://support.discreet.com has a specific Reactor forum too if you're interested. Many questions answered there.
