View Full Version : Camera Dynamics
jimmyb 11-20-2002, 05:46 PM I was wondering if there is a way to setup a camera rig
with springs/soft bodies to get a hand held look to animations.
I know Gnomon has a DVD, but it's quite pricey. Any help or a tutorial out there would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

hi there,
to create that kind of handheld, shaky dogme95-camera look, you will have to create your smooth animation first and make it a clip in the trax-editor.
then simply add another clip with distorted movements and mix those in a relative relation to the original clip.
scale, copy and paste your shaky 'dirt-track' as you like it and adjust it's weight if desired.
experiment a little and you'll definitely achieve the look you want.

hmm.. there once was that tutorial on how to rig a pod-racer (from episode 1) that it swings.. maybe you can find that one.
the idea for the camera would be rigging the camera with 4 springs. then after animating your camera will be controled by the springs.. that should be what you are looking for.. and fairly easy to set up
cheers
