Hi everyone. This is my current demo reel. I'm currently a student of VanArts, in Vancouver BC Canada. I've taken a year of classical animation, and am about 3 months away from graduating CG animation.

As it is this is my reel as it stands now, 3 months from graduation. I intend to get this out to companies and the Internet community to test the waters. Get as much critiques as I possibly can on the animation itself, content, styles, etc and take that into consideration when I make my final reel upon graduation. As it is I will have a solid 3 months to do completely replace any/most of the pieces on here if I need to.

And without further ado:

Videos are in quicktime format. If anyone needs something different (real, divx, etc.) Just let me know and I'll be happy to oblige.

Quicktime 7 Only, H2.64 compression
Broadband 480x260 .mov (http://www.dhpictures.com/demomovies/Nov05DemoReelLarge.mov)
Dial up 240x128 .mov (http://www.dhpictures.com/demomovies/Nov05DemoReelSmall.mov)

Quicktime 6 and lower, compressed with Sorenson
Broadband 480x260 .mov (http://www.dhpictures.com/demomovies/Nov05DemoReelLargeSorenson.mov)
Dial up 240x128 .mov (http://www.dhpictures.com/demomovies/Nov05DemoReelSmallSorenson.mov)

Thank you guys so much for any comments and critiques you have. I really appreciate how open and accessible the CG community is right now.

*refering to the broadband size* I only get sound with the quicktime file, no image. What type of compressor did you use?

Hey, i'm sorry to hear you can't view it. Its using the H2.64 mpeg codec which I thought was viewable in all quicktime software, but I realize now its only available if you have the latest quicktime 7 installed. When I get home tonight I will recompress in a more standard codec (sorenson) and replace the file. Thanks for pointing it out to me, because since I have the newest quicktime it wasn't apparant that there was a problem. Check back tomorrow :).

I've updated the links to display both an H2.64 compressed version for Quicktime 7 which is compressed to be a smaller file and thus faster for you to download if you have quicktime 7 to play it with, as well as one compressed with sorenson 3 for older versions of quicktime. If anyone needs any other type of compression (not quicktime perhaps) let me know and I'll be happy to provide.

Thanks again for all your help everyone!

That reel was fun to watch. Perhaps could use a little brighter colours to suit the music it had. To me, the first piece felt a tad linear.. perhaps missing is bit of subtion overlapping action (or maybe I've just seen too much of it that I'm missing it in your piece). The box lift seemed to loose a bit of weight on the forward steps.. seemed he should have fell there but didn't. Nice work on the 2d pieces, great touch. Hope you have enough self motivation to give'r hard for the next 3 months.. you will come out with a beautfiul reel.
