Hi

Having enjoyed work on my refinery building (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=288338), I've decided to try and make something simple that I can use for backgrounds and such.

Currently its 833 quads, including an 81 poly base.

I'm going to try and use two 1024^2 maps. One for teh rusty building itself and one for the base.

Any ideas?

Nice model, but I can't see why you'd need to use two 1024 textures. You said yourself that the model is for background use. If the player never gets close to it, all that detail will be of little use.

Ive done the base. Just a colour and bump map.

I divided the base more, just to smooth it out and help me give more definition to the rocks. If I do port this (most probably into the source engine) I will probably take the base back down again.

Simon: Cheers, I think your right. I think I will only use a 512 for the building. The textures will be all smudged anyway, due to the waterstained look I want.
