Part of a story in progress, unfinished scene. Composition is mostly final, but lots and lots of small details left to add. C&C welcome, thanks!

It's lookin pretty good there. The only crit I have with the 30 second glance I gave it is that the transition between the sand, and the objects in the sand, it's too clean. Maybe add a little diffusion to dirty it up some. Otherwise it's lookin good:thumbsup:

Isn't that the .mac icon from the system preferences in OSX? Looks cool, what will be used for?

Is the that supposed to be a huge construction, because I notice the wooden step ladder, which I assume is human-size? If so, then you'll really need a lot more smaller details to create the sense of scale, as right now it looks more like a miniature, especlally with the heavy DOF. Maybe lowering the camera angle might also help establish the scale more. Right now my eye is very much drawn to the empty axle in the centre, is that meant to be the focal point of the compostion? And on the brick pattern on the base, the texture scale of the top face doesn't match the front face.

Pls post more!

Hi folks, thanks for the comments. I've toned down the DOF but still haven't started working on details to get a better sense of scale. MS, you're right, its the .Mac icon but has nothing to do with .Mac =).

I've removed the sand, which actually was snow, he he he. As well the mountains in the background. Purchases Fast&Fur to do the grass, having a blast with it!

I can't say i admire that wall thing you have, it interrupts an otherwise clear composition and serves very little recognizable functional or structual purpose. If I were you I would take it out.

The rest looks pretty good, texturing could be cleaned up a tad.

i agree on the wall.

you could try a curved horizontal line with some more rocks and maybe a ruin in the background. think stonehenge...

You should work on the brick platform texture mapping so more on that box because the texture that is on top of the brick platform doesn't corraspond with side. I suggest replacing the top texture. I would model each brick and make it into a platform. That's the only thing bugging me(also it's just me nikpiking). Other than that the composition of the object are very nice. I like the "mac icon" sphere ^_^. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try what Cubeshaped recommends with the bricks. I also removed the walls and mountains and dropped in a photo. Better? Worse?

Thanks folks,
