You are invited to the 15 Minute Sketchathon daily events here in the Artistic Anatomy and Figurative Art Forum. How this works:

Everyday, there'll be new poses posted here. You can use any medium you prefer, to draw the pose, but it must be 15 minutes or under. We are usually on freenode irc #cgsociety but you can draw on your own if you can't join. Just use the honor system to time yourself and then post your efforts here after your time is up.

Everyone's got 15 minutes to sketch. So break those sketchpads out and lets have fun.
In a few minutes, I'll be posting the first pose for today.
Come on it will be fun.

Please Note:

All Reference Images for the 15 Minute Sketchathon can be found here:

Coolio. Bonanzathon!

Here's mine:

http://www.rensheeren.com/images/cgtalk/sketches/15min_dancer_sketch.jpg

PS - 15 min. Pic was set to "always on top" in the viewer, next to my work area. Actually I stopped at 15 min and then redid the head because it was waaay off, so that's +30 sec.
My life drawing classes really helped me out here!

Joy!

Here is a link to my Anatomy Thread, (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=292483&page=4) in which I've posted an update to one of the 15 min sketches from this thread...I worked on it for about 30 min beyond the original 15.

It's the last post (#51). (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=292483&page=4) :)

This is nice thread i hope to draw more stuff to this thread. I think this kind of stuff really teaches the artist a lot. Sometimes you of course have to draw point to point accuracy artwork to really know have you learned or not.

Anyway nice thread! . I hope it will become sticky someday!

Hey! This is my first post on CGTalk and my first 15 minute sketch. I'm not sure I like how it turned out, but I'm posting here to learn! Anyway, I did a little bit of erasing after scanning because there was some excess value that was making the image harder to read.

Goro - I've seen your work on the Sijun forums before - always great stuff. Rebecca, you're awesome to put so much time into helping people learn and practicing what you love. If anyone has some crits to offer, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. :)

Woo yeah I've finally done some skethces! Scanned graphite pencil sketches! The first thing I did was just tracing the line of actions. For example, the arms are half an elipse sort of and the curve from the head to the hips is a nice curve too :)

@Carina. Your sketches look fine to me. :) Not want to sound preachy or anything, but there will always be people who are better, usually because they've had more practise. On the bright side: there will also be people not as advanced as you. The true battle is with yourself and trying to do a better sketch than the previous one. OK off my soapbox now.

@Rebecca. To be honest, no, I have not heard of her. Thanks for showing me a new artist to admire. That is some awesome pencil sketch! Reminds me of Rembrandt.

I'm still exploring the possibilties of digital "traditional" media. It's hard, but probably also because it's so new and I am still not very familiar with either the "grain" of digital paper or the pencils/chalks/charcoals/watercolors/pastels/oilpaints.

I want to say thanks to all those who joined us in irc. It was a lot of fun meeting you, chatting about everything while drawing. Please lets do that often. We are arranging a system that will make this sketchathon really interesting, even more interesting when you come in channel and type !sketch, and get any pose of the day and get timed.

The series for today is grace and movement. So we'll be doing a lot of :P sappy poses. But don't throw up because tomorrow we 'll do images depicting the opposite of grace :)

Hello, this is my first post here. Not sure if i'm doing this right though. I took the ballerina (can't spell) one and jotted it down in 15 mins (or 14 but who's counting :) ). Sorry if this isn't supposed to be posted here.

Anyway, it was fun, i like these challenges. reminds me of figure drawing.

Grr.. My monitor is a screwy piece of crap. I just recalibrated it and noticed all this funky erasing and paper texture from the scanner. My monitor wasn't picking up anything below 20%! Anyhow, I reposted my entries. Hopefully it's a little more viewable now?

Nice stuff!

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c19/RoboMonkeyModule/15min_yoga.jpg

Llynna pointed out to me that I need to work on getting more form/volume into my work and watch the straightness of my limbs, etc. My work ends up kind of straight and rigid a lot of the time. Also I need to work on single color value more before I go straight into full-color wacom painting. Anyway, I almost didn't post this, but I'm going to keep posting my efforts no matter how crappy they might be.

This way I can share the process of my artistic growth with everyone and it will put more thrust into my effort to make my work more presentable. Peace.

Hehe, I know that many people don't like blurriness out of some principle or other, but I'm the opposite ~ I don't tend to like sharp brushes, it just ain't my thing! *Don't hate me Goro!* :D If I had more time on these, I would certainly refine them, though. :)

I like all these sketch works. It's helping me as warm ups too. Here's a new one based off one of the poses earlier. Sorry though, it took 17 minutes. Thought i would try something new with aggressive color. Squibbit's work kinda inspired it. think i'll go for a more rough sketchy loose style next. I really like what you got going on RebeccaK.

Hi,

Been watching this for a few days and don't get this IRC-thingy... I mean I stole a peep at #cgsociety, but could not figure out when to look for the sketchathon in particular.
- is there a starting shot on irc at a given fixed regular time of the day?

....hm probably making an ass of myself, but who cares?:p

Hmm, I don't really recall seing you in #cgsociety channel. Maybe people were asleep?
Well until things get automated, what we do right now is I post a couple of poses here in this thread and in the cgsociety premium section. Whenever anyone feels up to sketching one of the poses, they just let the channel know that they are ready. And we let them know when 15 mins is over.

Really its all just for fun and interactivity and believe me you dont sound like an ass.
Please note that you dont have to be in irc to participate. It just makes it more fun and interactive.
