View Full Version : Chicks with Guns
reaver 11-20-2002, 10:52 AM I've about finshed these two and I'm moving on to a male character so I thought I'd post them here.
I'm not going to texture them so I've given them a deliberate cartoony feel.
They are high poly game characters for an independent 2d isometric game I'm working on (BTW were looking for a 2d concept artist if anyones interested drop me a line (royality share only)).
Let me know what you think.

Great modelling on the characters they have been very skillfully put together although their faces seam a little similar :surprised
Great form and proportioning, the only thing that really caught my eye was the flatness in the backs of their hands. I think the image would also benefit hugely from some more dramitic lighting in the scene (even if it is just a test shot) to give it some extra juice in the presentation.
Great work though

Cheers Frank.
Hows the weather in the Valleys?
Heres the first render I did of them with moodier lighting.
I know what you mean about the hands I've been meaning to fix them but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Anyway I better start doing some work, I can't sit around here chatting all day;)

It's dark and wet but surprisingly not cold! I see why you chose the light setup in the first picture, it certainly brings out their faces much better, however the second brings out the boobs hmmm, decisions decisions :)
Good luck with your games, perhaps it would be worth putting up a notice in the vacancies forum too!? If you need extra hands.

Hi reaver,
Nice looking models! My only suggestion would be to work on the lighting... given that this is the "Finished" gallery, might as well make it look as good as possible by using some GI or a stronger 3-point setup. It's just really dark as it is -- maybe you have your gamma cranked up -- have to calibrate so it looks good on everyone's...
The girl on the right... her forearm looks pretty long... does her elbow line up at the bottom of her ribcage? Proportions might be off a bit... or intentional. The creasing around the joint looks like it needs work, too -- the elbow joint looks really thin... need more muscle and bone in there so it doesn't look like folded plastic.
Anyway, good job on these, but please consider changing the lighting -- presentation accounts for a lot.
Regards,
Joe

The posses seem really stiff. Maybe add a little bit of curves to the hips or shoulders. Te lighting need to be touched on as well, its to dark in many places. The hair needs to be touched on as well, it looks to plastic as it is right now.
Any bump or specular maps used here?

They are not textured.
Poser models!! are you taking the piss????
JsCarr Thanks I never noticed that about the arm I'll get to work on it.
I guess I'd better sort the lighting out too. I think I should maybe recalibrate my monitor as it looks fine here.
Unfortunately I haven't got time to play around with it just yet as I'm working on another model but I'll start a new thread at some point when I get the time to really finish them off.
Thanks for the crits.
Nick.
