Hi all audio-visual connected brains!

I present to you a short feature of the creative collective sounslikerain.net.

Try To Think is a short audio-visual experiment with the aim of not
trying to tell a story but rather to set a mood of the audience.
Featuring striking words about the state of the present world we hope to get
through with a message about how we live and use the earth and
ourself.

http://trytothink.soundslikerain.net

Hope you like it.

Cheers
/Max

You deffinitely achieved your goal of creating a mood. The visual effects are great, and go great with the words. And the poem is very good. I liked it.

Thanks for the comments. Me and my brother are quiet happy with the results too, but the one thing that we would like to change are the duration of the text. That would unfortunately not be possible though, since I composed the soundtrack to go along with both the editing and the words. I guess one just have to look at it once more to absorb all of the content.

The movie was made without much planning, basically the two of us spending a day in the city shooting stuff that we figured would match. Along the way we got a clearer picture of what we was about to create. Filming, capturing, a rough cut, the words and a draft of the soundtrack were produced over a weekend. The following week was spent with the finishing touches and the web site.

Working with or without a clear plan are to me same but different. On one side there is true creative freedom, on the other side a more efficient way of working. To get the most out of it I believe you have to hit somewhere between those two extremes. It's not easy though, and that is a big reason for me to work with projects like this.

Thanks for watching

I loved it! I thought it was great! The words were, although seeming random, very thought-provoking. The footage was nice, the stream with the leaf was my favorite shot. Also, I couldnt get enough of that music, is there any way I could get that song? Great work.

Interesting. But I hate strobe effects in movies with a passion.

loved it.

Appreciated the fact it was in black and white (which always adds a mood to film even if its non-existent in the first place). Your cropping and framing was great.

Any chance i can get that track in mp3 format? Twas WICkED. Email apeman[at]bastard.co.za

keep us informed if youre ever doing more work, id like to see more.

Hi to you all,

And thanks for the comments, well appreciated. Cool that you want the track so badly, makes my heart weak. :)

Actually I just got an idea. The track in it's current form is probably not that interesting in itself, it's way to short and has an arrangement that has to go with the editing, which is not ideal for listening alone to IMO. Which leads me to the idea: making a full length song out of it. In that case it will probably be a reworked arrangement (better energy levels and about 4-7 min long). Also I have a tiny idea to make a few more tracks to go along with it on an EP (most likely released on some netlabel).

What do you think about this?

Thanks. More will come. We just started to work on another script idea, which we hopefully will begin filming in one or two weeks. We will post the idea on our site (www.soundslikerain.net) soon, along with work in progress updates until the release.

Also, i will rework that soundtrack this weekend.

So long!

Hey!

Great work guys, allways nice to see artistic ambition in cg. Got somewhat lost in there sometime.
Also, nice surprise to see you're from gothenburg, same here. Me and my friend did a abstract piece this year, if you feel like it check it out at: http://krute.com/correlations/ maby you'll see it at "röda sten" next year.

Wow, what are the chances that we both are from Gothenburg... And more than that, that you watched our film. Anyway, nice to know that there are other ppl doing similar stuff in town. I will have to see it at "röda sten" later on.

Thanks for the comments btw. Our next project will be a bit bigger and also a bit more thought over. We'll see where it leads...

Cheers,
/Max
