View Full Version : Cloth simulation: How can I make a flag animation to loop?
EladDabush 11-19-2005, 07:32 AM Hello everyone .
In my scene I got this flag who flaps in the wind .
I used Max's 8 clothFX & wind in order to do that .
what I'm trying to do is to make the animation loop itself . is it possible ?
Hope someone can help me on this .
Thanks
Elad.

Not with clothFX....you could do it with an animated displacement map and tweak it alot to get it to look as random as possible and the you could loop it. I'm just guessing that would be the best way as I don't use max. Sorry. Hope I helped a smidgen though.

can you render in layers in max? Is it a still shot?

Thanks guys ,I tried using deformable space warps ,but they are not giving me the exact effect I want (though then the animation can be looped). ClothFX got much more realistic motion.
In the end this need to be a short looping animation for a website.
I don't know much about rendering in layers ,(if it is possible , what is good for? all I know it's used in rendering large scenes) .
anyone got other suggestions ?

If you could render it out with layers, you would render out a loop of the flag and then put it on top of the rest of you footage, with a video app.
