Now I have tried to finish up a picture, at least one the way I'd like it, but as it turns out computergraphics ain't that easy as it looks.

Now I'm an 15 year old art student (not a hobbyst, but I go to an art school) and I need help with this one.

Now I have posted the steps here and YOUR task is to tell me where did I go wrong and what did I do wrong. If you've got an opinion, tell it, I can take critisizm! Pleas lay it on me!

Step 1 - I have an sketch of the soldier, the Wnker and I'm starting to color it

Step 2 - well I'm just marking the plains of color, they were never meant to be such - gray

Step 3 - I tried to color the shirt or the coat a military pattern - did I do it bad? And afterwards I reviewed the image and decided that the pink Bg doesn't fit with these colors and...

Step 3.1 - I, I changed the backround - is it better?

Step 4 - I changed the backround again and tried to do the character - DID or DIDN't mess up here with the backround? - TELL me.

Step 5 - Here I further painted the character. When I was painting I thought - hey would these great guys help me out and the CGNetworks? I've kinda run to a dead end - I don't know what to do.

Now I've posted the steps, you tell me where did I go wrong.

And one more thing: If anyone doesn't bother to post here, it's fine, because then I'll know I'm STILL too N00b for this forum.

I aint doing anything until someone is nice enought to guide me in a direction.
I'm thinking maybe the backround is too messy and is distracting the viewer from the character maybe? You are the ones, who are suposed to tell me that stuff! Please, one comment would do it.

Hi,

ok here you go - the background is nicely done, but it does compete with the subject. Ask yourself how the background could help the subject.

I have some problems recognizing some of the things about the character. The red stripes around his waist: a belt of some sort? His underwear?

What does he carry?

I just havent done enough digital paintings to do paintings prom scratch.

Well the red thing is supposed to be a Wrestling belt.
At first I thought that I'd do a kilt for him too, but then even I couldn't understand that it was a belt :P
Ok thank you very much for your comment I'll try a different backround then. I mean I'll do the backround different.

oh its a belt? it looked kind of like some form of Mr-T type bling ;)
other than that its great, the background seems to be pushing the image towards a grungy streetart type look which i like personally.
