Title: Playing Card Design
Name: Brittany Richardson
Country: USA
Software: Painter

This piece was done as my final for my Illustration class. It's a playing card redesign themed, A Midsummer Night's Dream. The characters are all done in Painter IX, and the design for the back of the card is done in Adobe Illustrator 11. My piece shows the heart suit as well as the joker and the cards' back design. This suit contains characters, Oberon (King), Titania (Queen), Puck (Jack), and Cupid demonstrating Love's Folly (Ace). Nick Bottom naturally plays the part of the joker. Although only the hearts are shown here, the other suits would also contain related characters from the same play as follows:
Spade:
King - Lysander, Queen - Hermia, Jack - Egeus, Ace - Cupid demonstrating Love's Loyalty
Diamond:
King - Theseus, Queen - Hippolyta, Jack - Philostrate, Ace - Cupid demonstrating Love's Precedence
Club:
King - Demetrius, Queen - Helena, Jack - The Craftsmen, Ace - Cupid demonstrating Love's Persistence
And that's that. Only one completed suit was required for this project, but I would like to complete the other suits eventually. I'd love some feedback, especially from those familiar with this wonderful Shakespearian play.
Thanks.

Since I love to play cards, I was totally blown away by your marvelous design. Moreover, I think choosing the theme of the Shakespearean play and dividing the characters into the four suits was a brilliant idea.. ..and I believe completing the other suits would be amazing and rewarding.
 definitely 5 stars from me

Awesome idea and beautifully executed! I actually hadn't checked the title and could already tell that it was A Midsummer Night's Dream. Your style is stunning. Nice work
